At Coventry Elementary, October is a time to shine a spotlight on kindness, respect, and inclusion as we recognize Bullying Prevention Month. Throughout the month, our school counselors visited every classroom to teach students about bullying and what it looks like, what to do if they see or experience it, and how to help create a safe, inclusive environment where everyone is treated with kindness and respect. In an effort to deepen and reinforce these important lessons, our school counseling team partnered with resource teachers to develop engaging activities and lessons that extend beyond the classroom. Together, they have created meaningful student performances inspired by books that promote messages of empathy, acceptance, and standing up for others.

This year’s performance was based on the book Can I Join Your Club? by John Kelly. Students followed the journey of Duck as he searched for a place to belong, learning that true inclusion means welcoming others regardless of differences. The story illustrated how acceptance builds a community where everyone feels valued and safe. We are incredibly proud of our Coventry Cougars for embracing these values and helping to create a school culture where bullying behaviors are not tolerated. Their enthusiasm and commitment to kindness have made a lasting impact.

We’re excited to invite our families to an Encore Performance during our PTA meeting on November 13, 2025. Please join us at 6:30 PM in the Coventry Elementary School cafeteria to see our student performers share this powerful story. The evening will conclude with a brief choral performance, where all students will be invited to participate.
