Math Fest Night: Multiplying the Fun!

Two students work on a challenge puzzle at the ODU Math Fest Night.

Coventry Elementary was buzzing with excitement during our recent Math Fest Night, a special evening designed to help students see math in a whole new way! Led by our partners from Old Dominion University, this event focused on making math fun, engaging, and less intimidating for our 3rd–5th grade students as they prepare for their Math SOL tests.

The evening featured a variety of hands‑on math game stations, each carefully designed to reinforce important math skills through play. Coventry staff members ran each station, while students rotated through the activities, trying out games, solving challenges, and building confidence in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Families joined in the fun, too! Students proudly showed their parents what they were learning, and laughter and teamwork filled the room as everyone worked together to tackle math in creative ways. It was wonderful to see students engaged, smiling, and feeling successful with math concepts.

Students, families, and staff all had a great time, and the event reminded us that math doesn’t have to be scary—it can be exciting, social, and empowering! A big thank‑you to Old Dominion University and our dedicated Coventry staff for helping make Math Fest Night a success.

We look forward to building on this momentum as our students continue to grow as confident mathematicians! 📐✨
