Mrs. Seelbach's students recently took part in a fun and meaningful Garden Shop project that blended math, creativity, and hands-on learning. With a set amount of money to spend, students planned and budgeted their own flower bouquets to give to their parents. Each flower stem had a price, and students carefully added up costs, made choices, and adjusted their plans to be sure their bouquets fit within their budget.
This real-world math experience helped students strengthen skills such as addition, decision-making, and problem-solving, all while creating something special for their families. Students were excited to select flowers they thought their parents would love and took pride in creating bouquets that reflected their personal style.
In addition to building bouquets, students also planted seeds to start their own gardens. This part of the project allowed them to learn about plant growth, responsibility, and caring for living things. The Garden Shop project was a wonderful example of learning that is engaging, purposeful, and joyful.
We loved seeing our students grow both academically and creatively through this experience.
